WE MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

When we each wake up to our possibility as human beings, when we each wake to the fact that we are alive now, but someday we won't be, when we wake up to the freshness of each breath, as it enters and as it leaves, to the power of peace dancing in our hearts, then we can definitely make a difference, in our families, in our communities, and in our government!

We are not Republicans and Democrats -- we are human beings!

"Our system of government has divided us into two primary parties:  Republicans and Democrats.  In this duality, each can point the finger at the other, and try to elude responsibility.  But while we are divided, and pointing our fingers, our government is choosing policies that favor corporations and robbing us of our savings. Anyone can point a finger somewhere else, and claim to be a victim.   But why avoid responsibility, when by accepting responsibility, we can choose a new direction."  - Steve Richkind

Corporations are not people; they are profit-making machines

Steve Richkind
Corporations and industries have joined together to buy representation in our government.  If every dollar is created equal, then the corporations have more dollars than each one of us.  In fact, corporations and industries are now so well represented in our government that the public interest is being sold down the river every day.  Look at the evidence.  One obvious example:  When our country was misled into the war in the Middle East under false pretenses, our politicians invented excuses, such as the "War on Terror" to justify themselves. "Code Orange" was the "terror alert" invented by our government as a way of encouraging our fear.  Many human lives have been needlessly squandered in the Middle East, while our constitution has been largely disregarded, and for some reason, we feel no less fear.  The explanation is obvious:  fear does not go away by trashing the constitution; nor does fear go away by killing people.

Yet, oil profits have never been higher!  Corporations are making out like bandits. Corporations which produce the weapons of mass destruction are making billions!  The Organization for Petroleum Exporting Countries ("OPEC") and the Saudi Royals are smiling, all the way to the bank!

How much does it cost corporations and industries to buy our government?  Billions.  That's why they have to band together and pool their resources.  Buying our government is not cheap!  And yet, the profit they are generating from the purchase of our government is far greater than their sizable investments.  Corporations and industries have joined together and invested billions; but now they are making trillions.  Corporations are smiling, while citizens are suffering.

The Possibility of Peace and Connection

We have been isolated, and told that we are all alone -- that no one is connected to anybody else.  We are told, "It's a dog-eat-dog world, and only the sharpest teeth survive."  You can tell when they're lying: their lips are moving.  I say the name of the game is "Thrive, not just survive."  We must join together and help one another.  When we see that we are all connected in this world, and what happens to one affects all, then we will understand that no one should kill anyone anymore.  It's about connection to one another through peace and understanding.

PEACE FIRST, THEN PROSPERITY - not the other way around!

Is peace just the absence of war, or is there something more? Is it all words and ideas, books and beliefs?  Couldn't it be something simple and practical?

"If you become comfortable with this existence, with this life, with this moment, with this breath, you would realize a realm of joy unparalleled."

"Peace, joy, and true happiness are not subjects for thought.  They can only be felt. There is a feeling behind being alive.  There are no explanations for it.  It is the feeling that one has to get to - because that is where there is comfort, that is where there is joy, that is where there is satisfaction.  It is in that feeling that we need to live our lives."

"Somehow, we think that we need an explanation of what peace is, but peace cannot be explained; it can only be felt." - Prem Rawat
